Hailstorm Golf Ball Drop

Golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter at Luther Williams field for an opportunity at winning your share of a possible $25,000 in cold hard cash! The golf ball closest to the target takes home the Grand Prize of $10,000. Second closest to target gets $2,500. Third through Eight closest to target win $250 each, and there is even a $1,000 prize for the ball that rests farthest away.

That’s Not All! Purchase a $100 Pink Golf Ball and you could double your money. If your Pink Golf Ball is the closest to the target, you will win double your money! $10,000 Grand Prize becomes a $20,000 Grand Prize. A limit of 500 Pink Golf Balls will be sold.

A total of $25,000 in total possible cash prize money. Golf balls may be purchased in advance for $25 per ball, or five (5) for $100. You do not have to be present to win.

Additional prizes available for best Star Wars costume. May the fourth be with you. 

OFFICIAL RULES:

Golf Balls

• A minimum of 1,500 white golf balls must be sold on or before May 1, 2021 for event to take place. In the event a minimum of 1,500 balls are NOT sold on or before May 1, 2021, a total refund will be issued to the person or company listed on the registration form for the purchase of all golf balls and sponsorships.

• Purchaser will be notified of their golf ball numbers via email a few days prior to the event.

Ball Certification

• Standard golf balls are comparable weight and size will be numbered from 1 and up

• The golf balls will be audited by a representative from an independent accounting firm to ensure that all balls are present.

• The balls will then be placed in sealed containers and certified by a representative of the independent accounting firm that all balls are present and accounted for.

• The containers holding the golf balls will be stored in a secure location

• Under the observation of security personnel, the golf balls from the sealed containers will be transferred into transport containers.

• The helicopter will then proceed to take off and approach the drop zone where it will hover. The balls will then be released over the target (golf pin).

• Once all balls have been dropped, determination of the winners will take place.

• The event will be streamed live on a BGCCG social media account.

Winner Identification

• A member of the BGCCG Administrative team will maintain a master list of balls purchased, the ticket’s assigned owner and contact information at all times.

• A pre-determined staff member from BGCCG Administrative team will be in-charge of measuring the balls that land closest to the target along with the ball that is farthest away.

• The BGCCG Administrative team member, under the direct observation of the President & CEO of BGCCG, will approach the drop zone for the purpose of determining the winners.

• The aforementioned observers will determine the grand prize-winning ball based on which ball has landed closest to the designated target (flag pin) and then the next winning ball and so forth until all winning balls have been determined.

• In the event of a tie, winners will split the two prizes that would have been won based on their position. For example, if the two balls closest to the target are equal distance away, winners would split the first and second place prizes.

• The BGCCG Administrative team, along with the President & CEO of BGCCG, will certify all winning balls by signing a “Statement of Certification.”

• Winners will then be announced during the reception and posted on-line at www.bgccg.org as soon as possible after the winning balls are determined.

• Winners do not have to be present to win.

Claiming of Prizes

• In cases where a winner isn’t present at the reception, or may not have visited the website, BGCCG staff will make all reasonable attempts to contact the winner via the contact information he or she provided on the ticket information form.

• Any prize money not claimed by noon on May 12, 2021, will be considered unclaimed and dedicated to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia.

According to the IRS, "You can't deduct as a charitable contribution amounts you pay to buy raffle tickets ... or other games of chance" {IRS Publication 526. Cat. No. 75050 AO).
