Great Ocmulgee River Duck Race

Adopt a duck for a chance to win $10,000! If your duck is the first to cross the finish line, you will be the lucky duck to take home an impressive cash prize.

Help young people ages 5 to 18 in Central Georgia by adopting a duck for our Great Ocmulgee River Duck Race. Numbered ducks will race down the river to see which one will be the first to cross the finish line. Will yours be the lucky ducky that makes you a winner? Stay tuned for 2023 dates.

 

Great Ocmulgee River Duck Race Rules:

Rubber Duck Certification

  • Standard rubber ducks are comparable weight and size will be numbered from 1 and up.
  • Those who adopt ducks in advance will be notified of their duck numbers via email during business hours. Those who adopt on the day of can request their duck numbers in person.
  • The containers holding the rubber ducks will be stored in a secure location.
  • Under the observation of security personnel, the rubber ducks from the sealed containers will be transferred into transport containers.
  • Once all rubber ducks have been released, determination of the winners will take place.
  • Winners will be determined by a BGCCG staff member and audited by an objective third party.
  • The event will be streamed live on a BGCCG social media account.

Winner Identification

  • A member of the BGCCG Administrative team will maintain a master list of rubber ducks purchased, the ticket’s assigned owner and contact information at all times.
  • A pre-determined staff member from BGCCG Administrative team and an objective third party will be in-charge of determining the order in which rubber ducks cross the finish line.
  • The aforementioned observers will determine the grand prize-winning duck based on which duck crossed the finish line first and then the next winning duck and so forth until all winning rubber ducks have been determined.
  • Winners will then be announced during the reception and posted on-line at www.bgccg.org as soon as possible after the winning rubber ducks are determined.
  • Winners do not have to be present to win.

Claiming of Prizes

  • In cases where a winner isn’t present at the event, or may not have visited the website, BGCCG staff will make all reasonable attempts to contact the winner via the contact information provided on the ticket information form.
  • During normal business hours, winners may contact BGCCG Administrative office at (478) 743-4153
  • Any prize money not claimed by noon on June 20, 2022, will be considered unclaimed and dedicated to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia.

According to the IRS, “You can’t deduct as a charitable contribution amounts you pay to buy raffle tickets … or other games of chance” {IRS Publication 526. Cat. No. 75050 AO).

Indemnification

  • Employees of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and their immediate families are not eligible to participate or eligible to win any prize.
  • “Immediate Family” is defined as the spouse, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This definition also includes individuals for whom an employee is the current legal guardian or individuals who are not legally related to but who reside with an employee. (“Step” relationships also are covered by this definition.) The determinations of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia are final and binding with respect to any matter arising out of the interpretation or application of these terms and conditions.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and any associated sponsors maintain no control of the personnel, equipment or operations of any supplier and assume no responsibility for any financial loss, personal injury, property damage, other loss, accident, delay, inconvenience or irregularity which winners may experience by reason of (1) performance or nonperformance by any supplier; (2) wrongful, careless, negligent, or unauthorized acts or omissions on the part of any supplier or its employees, or on the part of any other party not under the control of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia or any defect, breakdown or other failure of any aircraft, train, automobile, ship, accommodation, or other equipment or instrumentality owned, operated, or otherwise used by a supplier or;(4) any acts of God, acts or omissions of third parties, damage or loss associated with any terrorist activities, social or labor unrest, mechanical or construction failures, disease, local laws, climactic conditions, or other conditions or developments. Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia shall in no event be liable for special or consequential damages arising from the use or ownership of any prize. Participants hereby release Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and any associated sponsors from any such claims.
